Marie Rosenmir is the recipient of the Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship for the years 2022–2024. During the 2021/22 season, Marie made her debut with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, which led to an immediate return engagement. In 2022/23, she returned to the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra as well as the Royal Swedish Opera for a new ballet production. During the 2023/24 season, Marie made her Austrian debut with Recreation – Das Orchester in Graz, and in February 2024, she conducted Massenet’s *Werther* with the Danish National Philharmonic Orchestra.

During the 2024–25 season, Marie Rosenmir conducted concerts at the Wermland Opera, returned for return engagements with the Gävle Symphony Orchestra, the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, and the Malmö Opera, and conducted the premiere of a new Swedish opera in collaboration with the Vadstena Academy. In October 2025, she returned once again to the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and presented a program featuring works by female composers.

Marie began her conducting career with the music department at the Gothenburg Opera, where she conducted Puccini’s *Manon Lescaut*, and subsequently led opera productions at the Folkoperan in Stockholm. In 2017, she made her conducting debut at the Royal Swedish Opera with Mozart’s The Magic Flute. She continued her work with both companies and returned to Folkoperan for a production of Verdi’s Don Carlos.

As a symphony conductor, Marie has worked with all of Sweden’s major orchestras, including the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Swedish Opera Orchestra, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, the Gävle Symphony Orchestra, and the Malmö Opera Orchestra. In addition, she has conducted the Stockholm Sinfonietta, the Nordic Chamber Orchestra, the Värmland Opera Orchestra, the Västerås Sinfonietta, the DalaSinfoniettan, and the Norrland Opera Orchestra.

Marie’s repertoire ranges from 18th-century music to contemporary works, with a focus on European symphonic music and opera from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. She is also a passionate advocate for the Swedish musical tradition and has premiered several works both as a conductor and as a singer. She is a co-founder of the contemporary music group Inversion, which commissions and premieres works by contemporary Nordic female composers. Together with KammarensembleN, Sweden’s leading ensemble for contemporary music, and other orchestras, Marie has recorded important new works for the broadcasters SVT and SR.

Marie is a passionate advocate for openness and excellence in music. In 2016, she was selected by Volvo for the “Life is in the Details” advertising campaign. That same year, she conducted the Nobel Prize award ceremony, which was broadcast live around the world. In 2016, she was also named one of Sweden’s most influential female musicians on the Opus list.

Her awards include the Swedish Conductors’ Prize, the Marianne and Sigvard Bernadotte Arts Fund Award (2006), and the prestigious Crusell Scholarship for Young Conductors (2011). As both a singer and a conductor, she has studied under such luminaries as Elisabeth Söderström, Thomas Quasthoff, Graham Johnson, Johannes Schlaefli, and Alan Gilbert. She holds a diploma in conducting from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, where she studied with the legendary Jorma Panula. In 2021, she was selected by Jukka-Pekka Saraste to participate in the LEAD Foundation Master Class in Finland, where she was mentored by Hannu Lintu, Esa-Pekka Salonen, and Saraste himself.
