Marley Erickson captivates audiences with her extraordinary virtuosity on the violin, which has enchanted international audiences from an early age. With technical brilliance, unwavering precision, and profound musical expression, she performs solo concertos, chamber music, and world premieres at the highest level.

Biography

Marley, born in 2003, has won numerous international competitions, including the USA National Strings Competition, the Fundacja Young Arts Competition, the Philadelphia International Competition, the Fanny Mendelssohn International Competition, the Moscow International Competition, and the Beethoven Young Musician Competition.

In addition, she has won awards at the International Louis Spohr Competition, the International Ilona Fehér Competition, and the II Piccolo Violino Magico International Competition, and competed in the Menuhin Competition in 2016 and 2018.

As a soloist, Marley has performed with orchestras in Europe and the United States, including the Seattle Symphony, the Orchestra of the Franz Liszt University of Music Weimar, the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Liszt Ferenc Chamber Orchestra, the Accademia d’Archi Arrigoni, the Mitteleuropa Orchestra, the Seattle Sound Ensemble, Anima Musicae, the Seattle Festival Orchestra, and the Era Nova Orchestra. She has performed in renowned venues such as Walt Disney Concert Hall, Benaroya Hall, Paul Hall, Trinity Chapel, Müpa Budapest, the Antico Teatro Arrigoni, and the Grand Hall of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music.

She has participated in prestigious programs such as the Juilliard School’s Starling-DeLay Symposium on Violin Studies and the Kronberg Academy’s “Mit Musik – Miteinander,” and has performed at major festivals including the Lockenhaus Festival, the Festival Academy Budapest, the Tiberius Chamber Music Festival, the Festival Kortrijk, the Arsonore Festival, and the Seattle Chamber Music Festival. In addition, she has participated in master classes and development programs such as the Cambridge International String Academy, the International Holland Music Sessions, and the International Music Mastercourses.

As a dedicated performer of contemporary music, Marley has commissioned and premiered several new works for violin. She has also appeared on the radio program “Northwest Focus Live” on KING FM and made her New York debut with a recital at the Salon de Virtuosi. Since then, she has established herself as a sought-after concert soloist and regularly performs recitals throughout Europe, most recently on tours of Belgium and the Netherlands with pianist Matthieu Idmtal.
In 2016, at the invitation of John Adams, she performed the North American premiere of Oscar Colomina i Bosch’s *Shpigl* as part of the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Green Umbrella Series at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Critics responded enthusiastically, singling out in particular the extraordinary maturity of the then 13-year-old violinist.

Marley is currently studying with Boris Kuschnir at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. She earned her bachelor’s degree at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest under Kristóf Baráti and Barnabás Kelemen. Prior to that, she studied in Seattle with Simon James, Hiro David, and Jan Coleman.

Throughout her career to date, she has collaborated with artists such as Michał Francuz, Rohan De Silva, Nicola Eimer, Somi Kim, Jonian Ilias Kadesha, Gábor Farkas, Julian Arp, László Fenyő, and Veronika Kopjova. She has also performed under the baton of conductors such as Péter Eötvös, Gábor Takács-Nagy, and Ádám Medveczky.
