Biography

The German-Uzbek pianist Nuron Mukumi was born in 1996 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. At the age of six, he began taking piano lessons with Prof. Tamara Popovich, and a year later, he began studying conducting with Prof. Neymer. He gained international attention at the age of eight: a video showing him simultaneously conducting and performing W.A. Mozart’s Piano Concerto in D minor with the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan went viral worldwide and opened the door for him to continue his education in Europe. At the age of eleven, he accepted a scholarship at the Purcell School of Music in London; three years later, he began his early admission studies at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts under Prof. Lev Natochenny.
He then continued his studies in Paris at the École Normale de Musique, where he earned the Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste under Marian Rybicki in 2021. He completed his concert exam with honors at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater under Prof. Hubert Rutkowski. From 2017 to 2022, he was also a scholarship recipient of the Bad Homburg Castle Concerts Foundation.
Nuron Mukumi’s artistic practice rests on four central pillars: solo recitals, chamber music, concerts with orchestras, and studio recordings. His concert career has taken him to renowned orchestras such as the German State Philharmonic Rhineland-Palatinate, the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, with which he has a long-standing artistic partnership. In Kyiv, he gave solidarity concerts in 2025 and 2026 and is also actively involved in masterclasses for young Ukrainian musicians—an expression of his understanding of artistic responsibility beyond the stage.
His studio recordings also attracted particular attention: the album *Tchaikovsky – 18 Pieces for Piano (2022) and Portraits of Bowen (2024), dedicated to the once-celebrated, now largely forgotten British composer York Bowen, were created in close collaboration with sound engineer Martin Sauer at Teldex Studio Berlin and were nominated for major awards such as the Opus Klassik, the International Classical Music Awards, and the German Record Critics’ Award.
His debut album *Summit*, released on Genuin Classics, has already received rave reviews: Werner Theurich of *SPIEGEL Online* praised Mukumi for his ability to “combine sensitive, flawless technique with a keen understanding of the dramatic structure of piano compositions—a talent that blends rigor with a joy of playing.”
His upcoming projects include the release of his fourth solo album, as well as performances with the National Philharmonic of Ukraine in Kyiv, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra in Vilnius, the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, and the German State Philharmonic Rhineland-Palatinate. Since 2024, he has also been directing a symphonic concert series at VILCO Bad Vilbel in cooperation with M&B Concerts, for which he is responsible for programming and providing introductions.
Nuron Mukumi has thus established himself as a pianist of international stature: a musician whose playing combines technical skill, stylistic versatility, and emotional depth in equal measure, and who is making a lasting impact on the music world through his dedication, both on stage and beyond.

"Der Pianist Nuron Mukumi betrat den Flügel nicht als Virtuose im Schaufenster, sondern als großer Lyriker mit beseeltem Spiel. Schon im ersten Satz überzeugte er mit einem klaren, differenzierten Anschlag." — Online Merker, 2025
