About the Artist

Giorgio Misseri is an outstanding tenor who has earned recognition both nationally and internationally. He has received numerous awards for his artistic achievements. In March 2017, he was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit with the Plaque of His Majesty’s Order of St. George.

On December 27, 2017, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, as well as the Order of Franz I and the 2013 Saxon Flood Relief Order from the Free State of Saxony.

Misseri began his musical training at the renowned Conservatorio di Musica Vincenzo Bellini in Palermo, where he earned a diploma in opera singing with honors. His talent was quickly recognized, and he won major international singing competitions, including the Giacomo Puccini Competition in Lucca, which he won first prize. He achieved further success at the Città di Bologna Competition, where he took second place and also received the Baroque Prize and the Farinelli Prize.

His career took a decisive turn when he was accepted into the Rossini Academy. There, he made his debut in Rossini’s *Viaggio a Reims* in the role of Cavalier Belfiore. This debut was just the beginning, as Misseri was invited back to the Rossini Opera Festival on several occasions, where he appeared in productions such as *Matilde di Shabran* and *L’inganno felice*.

Throughout his career, Giorgio Misseri has sung numerous leading roles in operas by Rossini and other composers. He has performed at renowned venues such as the Teatro la Fenice in Venice, the Teatro Regio in Turin, the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, La Scala in Milan, and the Hamburg State Opera. His exceptional voice and artistic expressiveness have made him a highly sought-after artist.

Misseri currently focuses on the French repertoire and bel canto, and has performed many of these roles at renowned opera houses. These include *Il Pirata* by Vincenzo Bellini, which he has performed at venues such as the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, the Teatro Real in Madrid, and the Metropolitan Opera in New York. He has also given outstanding performances in Bellini’s Bianca e Fernando, which was staged at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa and recorded on CD and DVD, as well as in La Sonnambula at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome and the Teatro Verdi in Trieste. Misseri has also enjoyed success in operas by Gaetano Donizetti, such as La fille du Régiment at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna and La Favorite at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. He has also sung in other major works such as Donizetti’s Elisir d’amore at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, as well as in Torquato Tasso and Marin Faliero, both by Donizetti, at the Donizetti Opera Festival in Bergamo.

In addition to his success in bel canto and French opera, Misseri has also made his debut in Verdi roles such as Falstaff at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. He has frequently been invited to perform at major opera houses, including the famous Teatro alla Scala in Milan, where he has sung in works such as Mozart’s *Idomeneo*, Giuseppe Verdi’s *Vespri Siciliani*, and Donizetti’s *Lucia di Lammermoor*.

Throughout his career, Misseri has had the privilege of collaborating with renowned conductors such as Daniel Oren, Donato Renzetti, Fabio Luisi, Riccardo Chailly, Gianandrea Noseda, Antonino Fogliani, and Michele Mariotti. He has also worked with prominent directors such as Pizzi, De Hana, and Michieletto, thereby contributing to the further enrichment of the art of opera.
